#RamadanRuminations Day 2: Incomprehensible Generosity

Could you begin to imagine
the generosity of a person
who repays you $1000
for your $5 loan

Then what about the Lord
who decides that your sleep is worship
your SLEEP is worship!

He who owns all things
and all of ours
He who provides everything
decides that our sleep will be rewarded
not as repayment for a loan
but an action that requires no effort
heck, it’s an escape from effort!

What madness is this
What sort of generosity
How are we not bowled over in awe
How are our tongues not saying thanks incessantly
How does one show gratitude
for a gift of such magnitude
How does He love us so
despite all that He knows

Lord, you are truly Al-Kareem
Our Forever, Our Lord Supreme!

Baihaqi reported on the authority of Salman Al-Farsi (RA) that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) delivered a sermon on the last day of the month of Sha’ban. In it our beloved Prophet (SAW) said:

“O People! The month of Allah (Ramadan) has come with its mercies, blessings and forgivenesses. Allah has decreed this month the best of all months. The days of this month are the best among the days and the nights are the best among the nights and the hours during Ramadan are the best among the hours. This is a month in which you have been invited by Him (to fast and pray). Allah has honoured you in it.

In every breath you take is a reward of Allah, your sleep is worship, your good deeds are accepted and your invocations are answered.”
