#RamadanRuminations Day 9: Acceptance

In the past few years, I've tried to be better at using my time, figuring out how to inculcate new good habits, and making certain spiritual practices & litanies a mainstay in my daily/weekly schedule.

Last Ramadan, I was listening to the daily podcast Soulfood FM by Ustadh Amjad Tarsin & one of the lessons that stayed with me till today (and that actually started a new habit) was on "acceptance".

Ustadh quoted Sayyidina Ali krwj: "No act that is accepted is small." And big deeds, like hajj etc, is completely worthless if it’s not accepted. Since then, I’ve tried to make this doa/plea after each act of worship "O Allah, please accept this from me."

This Ramadan, I kind of pushed myself a bit hard at the beginning. Last night after tarawih, the Imam made a very long du’a but I completely lost it when he asked Allah to accept our fasting, our charity, our standing in prayer etc. I realised I’d been too caught up on checking things off my Ramadan checklist & hadn’t asked for it’s acceptance :(

That’s my #RamadanRuminations for Day 9. Nothing that is accepted is small. And if something is not accepted, it is worthless.

May Allah accept all that we intend & try to do this month. May our hunger & fatigue not go to waste, ameen!
