Why have You shaken my life so?
After these losses and the outpouring of gifts,
will I be closer to You?
Once the dust has settled,
will I be settled in my faith and trust in You?
Why did You send me off on this train
and on that plane
with these travellers, some who gave
and many that took too much
Once I arrive, with nothing left in my hands,
will You take them in Yours?
If after the grief and searing loneliness,
I find You
If I knew You would be waiting, pleased with me,
the heartbreak and shame I’d endure
all over again
and then once more.
